Newbiggin Family History Centre – a Unique Place

Town Mayor Alan Thompson and Deputy Mayor Lynn Burns met with Hilton Dawson and members of Newbiggin by the Sea Genealogy Project

Newbiggin Town Council awarded Newbiggin by the Sea Genealogy Project with a large grant of £2792.11 towards the cost of key capital items required for the new Family History Centre located on Front Street.

Hilton commented ‘Newbiggin Family History Centre is a unique place & our database of more than 35,000 ‘people who have ever lived in Newbiggin by the Sea’ may be the biggest Community Genealogy resource in the world.  It is wonderful to have the support of Newbiggin Town Council as we sign a new extended lease for the Family History Centre and prepare for Newbiggin by the Sea 2020 Vision – an exciting year-long celebration of the people & community of Newbiggin by the Sea.’
