His decades of community service also include 20 years in school governance, 10 years with the Newbiggin Lifeboat Station, and serving as Treasurer for the Newbiggin Veterans Association.
In response to his appointment, Marc shared:
“It is a huge honour and a privilege to be asked to be Deputy Lieutenant for Northumberland, to support the great work the Lord Lieutenant does in the area and represent His Majesty the King.
My family originates from Ashington and Newbiggin by the Sea where I have lived most of my life. From the Military to the Ambulance service, the RNLI and now as a Forensic Paramedic with the Police, my career has been one in uniform. As a volunteer I have 20 years’ experience of school Governance with a multitude of schools including Alexandra First School, Amble Links First School and my last within the NCEA family of schools as a Trustee and Chair of Governors for the primary schools. I have also had 10 years as a volunteer with Newbiggin Lifeboat Station, my last 3 years as a Commander (Helm). I am currently treasurer of Newbiggin Veterans Association and one of the founding members when we formed in 2023. I hope to bring this experience and knowledge of the community into the role to support our great area.”
Please join us in celebrating Marc on this well-deserved recognition and thanking him for his continued service to our community!
