Supporting our local Rowing Community

Newbiggin Town Council is delighted to share that at the Finance & HR Committee meeting held in November 2025, councillors approved a £300 funding request for Newbiggin Community Rowing Club.

The club is a valued community group that brings people together to enjoy the home-built skiff, the Bella Arkle – whether through rowing or helping to maintain the vessel. Each year, the club carries out essential safety checks and maintenance to ensure the boat remains safe and seaworthy for everyone.

This funding will support vital upkeep, including thole pins, replacing tyres and repairing/renewing foot rests.

Cllr Gwen Woodman, Chair of Newbiggin by the Sea, had the pleasure of presenting the cheque to the club.
