Exciting news from the Newbiggin Town Council! At the Finance and HR November meeting, a grant of £300 was agreed to support Frankie ‘Tank’ Turner, a 13-year-old Muay Thai athlete from Newbiggin by the Sea.
Cllr Gwen Woodman, Mayor of Newbiggin by the Sea, met with Frankie to present the cheque. Newbiggin Town Council wish him all the best in the year ahead and looks forward to seeing what Frankie accomplishes in his very bright future in the sport he loves.
Frankie has trained at Jai Suu Muay Thai in Bedlington since age 7 and attends four sessions a week, showing incredible dedication. He’s already competed in 30+ bouts, winning an English Title and a Sandee Title, and in 2025 he proudly represented Team GB at the WMF Championships in Thailand, winning gold!
Training and competing at this level is a huge commitment—both in time and cost. All expenses so far have been self-funded by his parents, including gym membership, travel, competition fees, and equipment. This grant will help him continue his journey, representing Newbiggin by the Sea and TeamGB with pride.
