Supporting Local Talent!
At our Finance & HR Committee Meeting on 16 July 2025 it was agreed to the request of £300 to be awarded to Adele Barry, an inspiring Muay Thai fighter from our community. This will help towards costs for her essential travel, equipment renewal, monthly gym and hotel fees. Cllr Gwen Woodman, Chair of Newbiggin by the Sea presented a cheque.
Adele has been competing in Muay Thai for 4 years, racking up an impressive 38 fights and numerous demos. Adele currently holds 8 titles some of which are:
• WMO British title
• WMF English title
• ISKA British title
Earlier this year, she travelled to Thailand, where she won her category and became a 𝗴𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗮𝗹 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗼𝗻! Adele has again been selected for the World Muay Thai Championships in Thailand in March 2026. Adele continues to make us all proud.
