Annual Blessing of the Boats
It was an honour to be invited to this year’s Annual Blessing in Newbiggin by the Sea with RNLI Newbiggin.
A wonderful afternoon was had as we gathered to bless the Atlantic 85 lifeboat ‘Richard Wake Burdon’ and Newbiggin Community Rowing Club’s skiff ‘Bella Arkle’ – a beautiful wooden rowing boat named after a local RNLI legend. Celebrating the incredible dedication of our local volunteers who keep our waters safe.
Cllr Gwen Woodman, Mayor of Newbiggin by the Sea, along with Cllrs Jan Casey, Melanie Martin, Alison Sutherland, and Jill Woodman, joined this special occasion. What a treat to have the Newbiggin Salvation Army Band providing the fabulous musical accompaniment!
This beloved event is a reminder of the bravery and commitment of our RNLI volunteers and the strong spirit of our coastal community. Here’s to another year of safety, teamwork, and pride by the sea!
