Northumberland, it’s time to make your voice heard! Local elections will be held on Thursday 1st May 2025, and this is your chance to shape the future of our community. Whether you’re voting or standing as a candidate, your participation matters.

  • Register to vote: Friday 11th April 2025 (midnight)
  • Postal vote applications: Monday 14th April 2025 (5pm)
  • Proxy vote applications: Wednesday 23rd April 2025 (5pm)
  • Voter Authority Certificate: Wednesday 23rd April 2025 (5pm)

🗳️ Your Vote Matters!
Local councils make decisions that impact your daily life – from housing and transport to parks and waste collection. By voting, you have a direct say in who represents you and makes these important decisions.

📸 Don’t Forget Your Photo ID!
You’ll need photo ID to vote at a polling station. Acceptable forms include:

  • Passport
  • Driving license (including provisional)
  • Blue Badge
  • Older Person’s or Disabled Person’s Bus Pass

đź“… Important Dates for Candidates:

  • Nomination forms available: Monday 3rd March 2025
  • Notice of Election published: Thursday 20th March 2025
  • Nomination submission period: Friday 21st March – Wednesday 2nd April 2025 (10am–4pm)

đź“Ť How to Submit Your Nomination:
Nominations must be delivered by hand to one of four designated centres across Northumberland:

  • Alnwick (Lindisfarne Centre)
  • Berwick (Northumberland Info Centre)
  • Hexham (Queens Hall)
  • Morpeth (County Hall)

Please note: Dates for specific venues may vary and will be confirmed closer to the time.

âś… Nomination Tips:

  • The Returning Officer strongly recommends booking an informal check of your nomination papers before formal submission. This helps avoid issues that could lead to rejection.
  • Appointments for checks open on Monday 3rd March 2025 and can be made online or by calling 01670 624811.
  • Forms can be delivered by the candidate or any other person.

đź“‹ Important Information for Candidates:

  • The electoral register for nominations will be published on Monday 3rd March 2025. Ensure you use the latest version when completing your papers.
  • Early submission is encouraged to allow time for corrections, but no submissions will be accepted before Friday 21st March 2025.
  • Late submissions cannot be accepted under any circumstances.
