New Bus Shelter at Holmcroft/East Lea

Over the past year residents have raised concerns regarding the stone bus shelter located in front of Holmcroft in East Lea being used for antisocial behaviour and a hidden corner for urinating.  The Town Council has acted on those concerns and this week the stone shelter was removed and replaced with a black steel mesh Arun shelter, with seat.  It is hoped that the transparency of the new shelter will discourage the anti-social behaviour by making the users of the shelter much more visible to residents, bus drivers, and the police.

Newbiggin by the Sea Town Council has responsibility for the provision and maintenance of all of the bus shelters within our town.  The shelters are cleaned on a weekly basis.  We have recently been inspecting the bus shelters and arranging repairs, replacing Perspex with perforated steel to cut down on vandalism, and using up our supplies of moss green paint to give all bus shelters  a well needed refresh. It is our intention to move to a black colour scheme for the bus shelters moving forward.
