Town Council

Newbiggin by the Sea Town Council will observe a period of mourning following the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Council and Committee meetings will not be held or called during this period, as a mark of respect and in adherence to the statutory days’ notice required for Council meetings.

The Environmental Committee meeting, scheduled for Wednesday 14th September, will not be held. This will be rescheduled when permitted.

The Ordinary Meeting of the Town Council due to be held Wednesday 21st September, will not be held.  This will be called when permitted.

The work of the Town Council will continue as normal, while we observe the period of mourning, with the upmost sensitivity and respect.

The Official County Proclamation of the new Sovereign, King Charles III, will be read out by the High Sheriff of Northumberland, accompanied by the Lord Lieutenant of Northumberland on Sunday September 11th at 1pm. The short ceremony will take place outside Morpeth Town Hall.

The Official Local Proclamation of the accession of the new Sovereign will be read out by Councillor Louise Spratt, Mayor of Newbiggin by the Sea, at Newbiggin Memorial Park at 2pm. This will be a short ceremony that all are welcome to attend.
