Attlee Play Area refubishment update

Due to circumstances beyond our control the refurbishment of Attlee Play area will not be complete in time for the start of the School summer holidays as originally planned.

The contractors are due on site to commence the works on Monday 22nd July and aniticpate it taking approx. two weeks to complete the project. The play area will be closed to the public during this time.

At the May meeting of the Town Council Members agreed unanimously to accept a scheme by Kompan Ltd for the refurbishment of Attlee Play Area.

The scheme to update and improve this popular coastal play area will take into account:

• the best positioning and sheltering from the elements of any play grade sand;

• replacement of remaining sand surfaces;

• accessibility to play equipment for all – smooth surfacing and removal of barriers e.g. log borders or create access points to equipment via the strategic removal of some logs;
• the installation of inclusive equipment that will withstand the elements at this exposed location.

The works will see:

the re-positioning of sand area and installation of new diggers,
the installation of new themed seesaw,
the installation of a new pirate ship,
the removal of 4 x springers and installation of 2 x new themed springers,
the removal of sand safety surfacing and replacing with wet pour including groundwork.

During the closure of the play area we hope you will enjoy the use of our other play facilities at Central Park, Spital Burn and the Skatepark.
