Northern Directions – An exciting new Youth Programme in Northumberland

Northern Directions is a Groundwork project working specifically in the North East Local Enterprise Partnership (NELEP) area specifically targeting deprived communities within the North of Tyne Combined Authority NTCA (Newcastle upon Tyne, North Tyneside and Northumberland).

Northern Directions will provide opportunities for young NEET aged 16-24 to progress towards or into the labour market, further education and training.

Offering a free end-to-end voluntary employability and personal development package tailored to the unique and complex needs of each participant; dismantling barriers to engagement, progression and sustainment through:
•Dedicated 1:1 support including coaching, mentoring and Information Advice and Guidance (IAG) undertaken by a Youth Coach.

•Specialist interventions including debt management, benefits, health & wellbeing, housing and more.

•Learning and development opportunities including employability, basic skills, personal development, work-experience, work-trials, placements, volunteering, accredited and non-accredited learning.

•Employer Engagement including needs assessment, recruitment support, job analysis-carving-matching.

•Supported progression pathways including (self)-employment, apprenticeship/traineeship, further education and training.
