Town Council budget 2020-21

Newbiggin by the Sea Town Council unanimously agreed the 2020-21 budget of £277,009 at its meeting on the 22nd January; a reduction of £12,975 on the 2019-20 budget. The Town Council will continue its support of local and enhanced environmental services, small projects, leisure and recreation support as usual.

The reduction to the budget comes as a result of moving the financial support for AFC Newbiggin into balances, which over two years provides a sum of £25,000 earmarked as a capital commitment to their Clubhouse and pitch project. This funding remains ringfenced for the AFC Newbiggin project within our reserves and we continue to support the Club on bringing this community project to fruition.

A reduced contribution of £22,028 was unanimously agreed to be taken from our reserves to retain the precept of £254,981.

Most households in Newbiggin by the Sea are in category Band A where the precept will cost an estimated £115.59/year.

The precept does not include the Northumberland County Council nor Northumbria Police elements of council tax which will likely rise.
