Litter pick – East Lea

On Day One of the Keep Britain Tidy Campaign ‘Love Parks’ a small group of nine litter picked the East Lea Park and Estate.

The group consisted of 4 Town Councillors, the Town Clerk, 2 residents of East Lea, a resident of Ashington and Melanie from the Newbiggin Learning Hive who provided refreshments and cake for all of of the litter pickers.

Newbiggin Mayor, Alison Sutherland, commented; ‘fortunately the rain held off for us to make a little difference in the community today. It’s good to give a little back to help improve the local area.  I’d like to thank everyone for their help – a great job done by all‘.

Town Council Enhanced Operative Dan arrived just as we were finishing the litter pick to clear our collection so the area was left looking really clean and tidy.
