Theft of Litter Bins

Suspected scrap metal thieves have sunk to a new low in Newbiggin by the Sea as 4 x steel alloy public litter bins have been stolen over the last 7 days from Long Park, Central Park, Collingwood Road and Sea Crest Road.

The thefts were discovered by Neighbourhood Services teams and were also reported by several members of the public.

The thefts have been reported to Northumbria Police.

The cost to the ratepayer to replace all 4 bins is likely to be a four figure sum.
